Tachograph Fitment, Calibration & Inspection

Trailer Aid Ltd is an approved tachograph fitment and calibration centre. Analogue and digital units fitted, calibrated, inspected and certified – keeping your fleet legal and your O-licence protected.

Tachograph compliance is not optional. An out-of-calibration or incorrectly fitted tachograph puts your O-licence – and your drivers' livelihoods – at risk. As an approved tachograph fitment and calibration centre (working to DVSA standards, formerly VOSA), Trailer Aid Ltd handles the entire lifecycle: fitment, calibration, statutory inspection and certification.

Our Tachograph Services

  • New fitment – supply and installation of analogue and digital tachograph units to new and existing vehicles
  • Recalibration – two-yearly digital and six-yearly analogue recalibration with certification
  • Statutory inspection – two-yearly analogue tachograph inspections
  • Repair & replacement – faulty heads, senders and wiring diagnosed and rectified
  • Fleet compliance management – we track expiry dates across your fleet and remind you before deadlines

Why It Matters

The tachograph is the legal record of your drivers' hours and your vehicle's speed and distance. DVSA roadside checks and site visits will examine your calibration plaques and records. A missed recalibration date is an easy prohibition – and an avoidable one. Because we also handle your fleet maintenance and trailer servicing, tachograph dates can be aligned with your safety inspection schedule so one visit covers everything.

One Visit, Full Compliance

Combine tachograph calibration with a safety inspection, MOT preparation or service visit and minimise vehicle downtime. Our workshop is minutes from the M1 and A5 – easy in, easy out.

Tachograph FAQs

Digital tachographs require recalibration every two years; analogue tachographs every six years with a statutory inspection every two years. We can track these dates for your fleet and contact you before they expire, keeping you compliant without the admin burden.
Yes. As an approved fitment and calibration centre we supply and fit new and replacement tachograph units, carry out the initial calibration and issue the certification you need for your records.
Calibration verifies that the tachograph accurately records speed, distance and time against the vehicle's parameters. We check the installation, seals and plaques, test the unit against calibrated reference equipment, update the calibration plaque and issue the certificate.
Where the work permits, our engineers can attend your site. Calibration requires our approved equipment and controlled conditions, so most calibration work is carried out at our Leighton Buzzard centre – call us to discuss your requirements.
