GPS Fleet Tracking

GPS Fleet Tracking – Real-Time Location & Fuel Data

Live GPS positions for every vehicle and trailer, geofenced alerts, route history and fuel consumption from onboard diagnostics – the operational backbone of any modern LGV or HGV fleet.

Real-time vehicle location is the foundation of fleet telematics. Everything else – fuel analysis, driver scoring, maintenance alerts – builds on knowing where your assets are and where they've been. GPS fleet tracking gives you that picture live, on one screen, for the whole fleet.

Core Capabilities

  • Live map – every vehicle and tracked trailer on one map, updating in real time, with status (driving, idling, parked) at a glance
  • Route history & replay – full breadcrumb trails with timestamps, speeds and stop durations for any vehicle, any day
  • Geofencing – automatic alerts when vehicles enter or leave depots, customer sites or restricted areas
  • Fuel consumption monitoring – real burn per vehicle, route and driver drawn from onboard diagnostics, with anomaly alerts
  • Utilisation reporting – which assets earn, which stand. Right-size the fleet with data instead of guesswork
  • Theft & unauthorised-use alerts – movement outside hours or outside geofences raises an immediate alarm

Trailer Tracking Specifically

Trailers are the fleet's most invisible asset – unpowered, frequently dropped, and easily forgotten in a customer's yard. A self-powered trailer tracker reports position independently for years on its own battery, shows coupling and uncoupling events, and tells you instantly which trailers have been standing longest. Operators regularly recover whole trailers' worth of hidden capacity.

Location Data + Diagnostics = Fewer Breakdowns

Because the same unit that reports position also reads the vehicle's diagnostic port, a fault code from a truck on the M1 arrives at the same moment as its exact location. As working commercial engineers, we can dispatch a mobile unit that already knows the fault – a genuinely joined-up service that a tracking-only provider can't offer. See how this fits our complete telematics approach.

FAQ

GPS Tracking FAQs

Modern tracking units report position to within a few metres, updating every few seconds while moving. That's accurate enough to verify site arrivals, geofence depots and reconstruct routes and incidents with confidence.
A geofence is a virtual boundary around a real location – your depot, a customer's site, a low-emission zone. The system alerts you the moment a vehicle enters or leaves. It automates proof of attendance, flags unauthorised movement and catches theft early.
In most cases, yes. Fuel consumption data is read from the vehicle's own onboard diagnostics – no invasive fitting. Dedicated fuel-level probes can be added where precise tank-level monitoring is needed, for example on long-standing parked vehicles or to detect theft.
Units continue to report when parked (at reduced frequency to protect the battery) and most platforms include European roaming as standard or as an option – important for trailers that cross borders.
